Amanda Brugel
(February 27th of 2010 to Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a quiet community located on the part of Montreal that is known as"the West Island. The West Island has a lot of different communities. For those who haven't been aware of it frequently think it is a separate island facing west. Amanda Brugel's birthplace has been frequently referenced, however her brief time in the city was not. Brugel was raised on Courtice just outside Oshawa within Ontario. She aspired to be a professional dancer, but due to an explosive increase in her height, she outgrew every dance partner she met. In an article that was published in The Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall, even when she wears heels. When I grew out of male companions at that point, I gave up. Bruce was among the former dancers who turned to acting. Her teacher from high school was what pushed her into the right direction. She was a teacher at the time who advised her to take on a part in the annual school production. She was chosen to play the main character of Anne of Green Gables after she tried out. This led to a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theatre Program which she graduated with an Associate in Fine Arts degree in 2000. Brugel's career spans over 20 years and she has been in over 60 productions, both on big screens and on smaller ones. The most well-known role she played was that of Rita (pictured below) in the television show The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the only Canadian part of the cast in the season 1 of the series, and only appeared on occasion.
